We are going to be in Munich June 6 & 7, 2013. I need a hotel that's well located in the city. We will not be driving. Walking is great for us within reason. I would like for breakfast to be included if possible. We are three guys and just basic needs nothing fancy. Please advise and thank you!! Doug, Chris, & Eric king
I have a list on my webpage of some hotels that have been recommended by others on this board. Marienplatz is, IMO, the tourism center of Munich.
Hotel Amba, across the street from the Hauptbahnhof. Breakfast included in their reasonable rates. No frills rooms, helpful staff, next door to a pizza place that has satellite TV and Paulaner on tap.
I would recommend Hotel Brack on Lindwurmstrasse. My wife and I stayed there 2 weeks ago for 3 nights. Nothing fancy, but a good price and the best breakfast we had in Germany. One half block to the underground and then only 2 stops to Marianplatz.
I like Hotel Uhland. There is a bus stop right on the corner, or it's a short walk to the train station or a longer walk to Marienplatz. They have great staff and a really good breakfast.
Hotel Uhland is liked here but is quite expensive. The cheapest decent hotels in Munich tend to be within a block or two of the train station. This is convienent to both the train station AND the tourist areas of Munich, which are either a 2-3 minute subway ride away, or at most a 15 minute walk. I enjoyed the Hotel Eder, and it was very affordable.
For nothing fancy, be sure to consider Pensions. They are generally nice rooms in someone's home and cheaper than a hotel but much nicer than a hostel. The standard for cleanliness is outstanding at every Pension I've seen through the area.
Doug, We've stayed with Christina at the Hotel Monaco a few times and loved it. Close to the trains and easy walking anywhere. Rooms come with or without WC, and breakfast is available. It's also located the 5th or 6th floor of a building. Jeff & Dianne
Thanks to everyone.... we found a place.
