Munich hotel, travelling by car

Hi, we are looking for a hotel in Munich that can easily be reached by car. We thought it best to park at the hotel and take a tram/s-bahn stop to go into the city. Do you have any suggestions for general locations or specific hotels? This is for next week, and the Hotel Uhland (which sounds perfect) is already booked. Many thanks for your help!

You might try the Hotel Drei Löwen on Schillerstrasse. It is fairly large, so they may not yet be fully booked. Super easy to find via automobile .... it is in the center of Munich - you just stay on any main road and just follow the signs for the train station. The hotel is right nearby - around the corner and within a block or so. They have arrangements for car parking right down the block. Getting into the historic area to Marienplatz, the Residenz Museum, Dahlmeyers, the Augustiner, etc. is all an easy ten minute or so walk thru the pedestrian walkway that is right across the street and down the block from the hotel. They often have pretty decent package deals for multiple day stays as well.

Try Hotel Pension Beck: http://www.pension-beck.de/ I stayed there on a trip to Munich a few yrs back (was suggested by Rick in his Germany guidebook) and liked it. It's a typical "Rick-Pick" small-ish, family run, good value, clean, etc. Not luxurious, or anything like that, but my room was clean and pleasent, it's in a safe, quiet neighborhood (was around, if I recall, a 10-15-ish min walk to the Marienplatz, and also not too far from the Deutches Museum). Bfast each AM was good, too. As an alternative, if Beck's totally booked due to xmas, you can also try: http://www.the4you.de/
Don't be turned off by the fact that it's mostly a hostel; the upper floors are hotel rooms w/ TV, private bath, etc. It's a good value. Also on a quiet street, but very close to the HauptBanhof (main train station), so also puts you in good location for exploring the Marienplatz and surrounding area. If you're totally in a bind w/ many places booked, perhaps give this a try. I stayed there on a seperate trip to Munich (where every other reasonable place was booked!) Good luck! Munich is awesome this time or year; you're sure to enjoy it.
