Hello - Has anyone stayed at the Platzl hotel in Munich? Looking for something in that general location. Thanks for your help
Hotel Torbrau was very nice and centrally located . We needed a triple and were upgraded to a suite. Had to leave early to get a 7:30 train and they made us a nice pack lunch/breakfast and we had a fun early morning picnic in Munich train station.
The Platzl Hotel is wonderful and about a 3 minutes walk to the Marienplatz. It is, however, expensive and some say overpriced, for what you get. But we loved it.
We stayed at the Hotel am Viktualienmarkt in 2011. It is just on the other side of the Viktualienmarkt from the Marienplatz. It's nowhere near the price point of the Platzl, but it suited my needs quite nicely.
I stayed at the Platzl in December. The price is on the higher side, but I felt it was well worth it due to the wonderful location, good service, and excellent breakfast. Also used the room service which was handy and I felt was not that overpriced as far as room service goes. Would love to stay there again. And if you are looking for a tour, I took the free (tip expected) walking tour from New Munich Tours and it was great, good intro to the city, and my guide was very good. I would love to go back and take the Dachau tour they run when I have a chance.
Sue,
We've stayed at the Hotel Uhland two different times and find it perfect for seeing Munich by foot. We've been as a couple and as a family of four. It's a ten-minute, very safe/scenic walk from the Marienplatz. Enjoy!
I liked the Uhland when I stayed there, but ten minutes from the Marienplatz is seriously optimistic on foot. By U-Bahn more likely.
