we were in Munich for one week and did not want to sped a lot of money on food, so we ate our "Abend Essen" in the evening at the Food Court in the HBF. For the most part the food was terriffic. and Cheap. there is a great variety from around the world and so you are never 'bored'. The Asian restaurant (cant remembr name) was particularly good.
I kind of think it is a shame to spend all that money to go to a foreign country and then eat your dinners in a train station. It would be like a German taking a trip to San Francisco and eating in the bus station. Wouldn't you find that sad? Wouldn't you recommend going out into the streets to experience the city and the country?
The food in train stations is not cheaper than food in other places, it is probably more expensive. Most of it is fast food quality. Not bad, but certainly not representative of German food. If you go outside of the train stations in large cities, you will often find restaurants that offer very good food at a very low price. Especially ethnic food. Though again, wouldn't you like to eat German food while in Germany?
A great tip Thank You!!!
to Jo in Frankfurt: I agree, but we would eat our main meal....the Midtagessen at a good restaurant and get the BEST German food....could not get enough of that with the Wiesebier you know.....then just a 'snack' in the evening. that's what we would get in the HBF.....no fear.
I agree Jean....very good food.
Yes!! Were a German to be so unlucky as to eat at a bus station in San Francisco--certainly you would not have hot food, unlike in Germany--that would be sad indeed, but not vice versa if I were over there.
I include Frankfurt as one of the best Hbf. at which to eat, (among others), certainly better than Duesseldorf.
let's start a new idea: BEST FOOD COURTS AT HBF STATIONS.......maybe we are only scratching the surface here.
