we are going to Munich Germany in August. Any recommandations on where to stay?
Here (bottom of page) is a list of places that have been recommended by people on the Graffiti Wall.
We stayed at the Westin, very very very gorgeous hotel. Only problem is that it is far from the city center. Nice rooms, nice view of the alps!!
Stay in the center. Then choose by your budget. I stayed in hotel Atlanta for 50 euro a night.
Give us an idea of your budget and we might be able to recommend...
No more than 165 USD a night
Try the Hotel Blauer Bock. Centrally located, clean, good breakfast.
"Only problem is that it is far from the city center." The Westin is only 10 min from the city center. I don't see that as a problem, but €259 ($346/nt for a double room with breakfast). That is a problem! Ilja, you stayed at Hotel Atlanta. You recommend it, I guess? The price (<€100 for a DZ/F) and location (Sendlinger Tor) look good. I want to add it to my list.
I have stayed at Hotel Uhland and the Hotel am Viktualienmarkt and would reccomend both. As a matter of fact, I already have reservations again at Hotel Uhland for May.
Lee, I stayed in hotel Atlanta for 3 nights. It was basic, breakfast included, bathroom in the hallway. In my opinion OK. I wanted to spend money on sightseeing (which I did) not on luxury accommodation. By the way it was a single room.
Brian, this place has three choices of where to stay. Although the Park-Hotel is in the west part of Munich not the center. According to the site doubles start at €69. http://www.seibel-hotels-munich.de/en.html
We are staying at Pension Lindner in July. Looks great, they responded quickly, right in the center of the action, and $110/night for a double.
The Arthotel at Paul-Heyse-Strasse 10, near the main train station. Location is very convenient since you walk to the station and catch S-bahns or U-bahns to anywhere. Very clean rooms. Helpful staff. Great breakfast included. Even has a small bar if you want a drink in the evening. And within your price range.
Erding is 20 minutes from down town? Do you mean down town Munich? I don't think so....it's at least 40 minutes by S-Bahn.
