I have had such great luck on this site I am again asking for help. I have parts of my trip planned out and need help on another decision. I have 11 nights to divide between Munich, Berchtsgarden and Vienna. My plans are to do Chiemsee on the drive from Munich to Berchtsgarden and probably Halstedt on the drive from B. to Vienna. I also plan on doing Salzburg as a day trip from B. How many nights would you stay in each location? My initial thoughts are 3 in Munich, 4 in B and 4 in Austria....but need help!! Thanks in advance for the great input I know I will receive!!

Hi Ron,
The way you have the days divided sounds very good.
For Herrenchiemsee allow 3 plus hours. Between the boat ride to the island, walk to the castle and the tour and then back, it eats up time, but so worth it. Just in case you don't see it on the drive, it's 1 hour drive from Berchtesgaden to Prien/Stock (where you get the boat).
Salzburg is alo very easy from Berchtesgaden. Aprrox. half an hour drive.
Just for your info, we did Hallstatt from Berchtesgaden also. About an hour and a half drive through gorgeous countryside. Hope this helps.

Definitely 4 days for Vienna. There are so many things to do and see there it will seem to you that 4 days were not enough, but it will be sufficient for a good taste of the city.
