Munich accomodation

Hi, For an overnight in Munich in late March, looking for someplace reasonable to stay within walking distance of the train station. Appreciate any recommendations. Paul

A favorite on this forum (and with us) is Hotel Uhland which is in a residential neighborhood about a 15-minute walk south of the train station. The area close to the station on the south side used to be a bit seedy, but now there is a Sofitel and a Le Meridien Hotel there, both very pricy. Within a few blocks there are about 20 more smaller hotels, mostly business-oriented, many on busy streets. We've stayed in 2 of those and they were fine for the price but nothing special. Then on the other side (north) is the venerable Eden Wolff which is just right across the street, very close, but not expensive. Looks like about $160 for the March dates I checked. And I am sure people can suggest others. You can see the locations on the area map on Tripadvisor, or use Google maps.

I stayed for a very quick overnight at Hotel Europaischer Hof (http://www.heh.de/) last May. It's across the street from the train station, great deal if you book ahead (under online booking look to see if they have any deals - you may have missed the window). Clean, good breakfast, and convenient to train.

I second the Europaischer. We have stayed there 5-6 times and are staying there again later this month. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is excellent, the hotel is very clean and the location can't be beat.
