Where have you stayed while visiting Munich?
We are looking for small places, don't want the chain hotels.

I have several place listed on my Munich webpage (near bottom of page). I haven't stay at any of them (I prefer a traditional hotel in the suburbs where only German is spoken), but they have all been recommended by others on this website.

Vito, I'd also recommend Hotel Uhland as that's where I always stay. it's about a 12-15 minute walk from the Munich Hbf, and located in a quiet residential area. The breakfasts are incredible and the staff are fantastic. Happy travels!

If you want to stay in the pedestrian zones of Marienplatz or Viktualienmart rather than at the train station then choose the Hotel Viktualienmarkt or Hotel Blauer Bock or Hotel Platzl.
