Has anyone been to the Moulin Rouge? If so, would you recommend it? Tickets are quite pricey at 102 Euros each (show only). Rick doesn't mention anything positive or negative about it in his books. We're in Paris for five nights, and besides the Seine dinner cruise, it's nice to have some fun outings planned for the evenings. Any other ideas?
I believe that to a lot of travelers posting on this forum, $270 is a lot of money for just a show, no dinner. I suppose it depends on your budget and preferences.
Here are 3 prior discussions of the Moulin Rouge:http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/30332/moulin-rouge-in-paris-is-it-worth-the-money.htmlhttp://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm?topic=10342http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm?topic=11135
Have you ever been to Vegas, Reno, Tahoe or anywhere else they put on a review type show? If so, you've seen what you'll see at Moulin Rouge.
Paris is beautiful at night as it's all lit up. How about a
Segway Tour of Paris? I've been to Paris many times but I'm going back just to do this at night.
Kim,,
There are other things to do in the evenings , a nice dinner, a stroll along the Seine,, a night Bike Tour( very fun,, even I enjoyed it),,some museums are open in evening too, and a starlight visit to the Eiffel Tower!
Moulin Rouge IS alot of money,, ( and thats for the "cheap seats") to sit knee to knee with bus loads of other tourists and see what basically is a Las Vegas show, ( but not even as good in my opinion). Even many of the dancing girls are not French, but British( I saw a documentry where they interviewed the girls).
Rick does mention in his Paris video that the Moulin Rouge is kept alive "only" by the foreign tourists. No, it's not worth it! Invest instead in a really fine dinner at a superb French restaurant. You'll remember that forever!
