I have written a screenplay about the 8th Century Moorish conquest of Spain. I would like to travel the routes traveled by the Moorish invaders in these countries and need professional Moorish, Visigoth and Sapharic tour guides, who can guides and explain historical facts about these historical sites( personal tour guide(s). I may have to break up these tours into multiple trips. I need help planning this trip. Also I'd like to thank Mr.Rick Steves for his years of dedication to "Europe through the back door";I am one of your loyal fans. Michael Satchell
For what you are asking I would contact the scholarly historical societies in those countries and locations. Also the cultural sections of the respective consulates in SF might be helpful. This is a very narrow and specific kind of request but should be very interesting.
Interesting request. I would also suggest that you contact universities in Spain; authors of non-fiction works covering this era of history of the Iberian peninsula might also be a good resource. It's amazing, sometimes, the authors who will respond to emails. You could also try contact Context Travel, http://www.contexttravel.com/. We are not usually tour-takers, but have taken one of their tours in Venice and one in Rome. Their guides are very knowledgeable, and usually (always?) grad students or PhDs in their area. They have walks in Madrid and Barcelona, which are not the areas you'd be interested in, but they may be able to suggest people to contact. And do you possibly mean Sephardic, rather than Sapharic?
You might trying posting your question at Slow Travel Boards: http://slowtalk.com/groupee/forums/a/cfrm/f/869607521
You could try contacting historians at universities in the U.S. who specialize in this period. They probably have academic contacts in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco who might know of tour guides or other scholars who could help you.
