Montmartre Funicular

  • Is the funicular accessible with the Carte Orange H.?

  • Does anyone know if it is currently open (going next month, RS book says it may be closed for repairs). Thanks!

  1. Yes, it is accessible with the Carte Orange.

2.Yes and no. According to the RATP (Parisian transportation authority), the funiculaire will be closed periodically between now and summer. It will be closed from the 10th to the 18th of April.

In the meantime, the RATP is providing a bus as a replacement. It departs in front of the funiculaire.

Just out of curiousity is there a train stop nearby the funicular? Last time we took a cab to the Sacre Coeur but this seems so much better.

There are two Metro stops you can use to get to Sacre Coeur: Abbesses and Anvers.

I was just there last week and only one of the two were working. I just ended up walking up as it was much quicker. With only one working the line wasn't that long, but it was taking forever!

As we were waiting for the funicular to go down-too wimpy even to walk down!-there was a group of about 20 men running up the stairs. Must have been a soccer team or something. They got to the top and ran right back down the stairs. Then up, then down again. We saw them do that about 5 times. Let's just say the view of Paris had serious competition as we rode down.
