what is the name of the hotel on/in the wall...anyone stay there or can recomend it or other place to stay on the island ?
Also...is it possible to walk across the flats still from the mainland to get there? How long would it take ?
It's only a 0.4 mile walk but is across mudflats where the tide comes in at 2 feet per second, the difference between high and low tide is about 50 vertical feet, an enormous tidal variation. I don't know if it's even possible to walk from the mainland, most people walk around the Mont; possibly a tour would conduct you across from the mainland. You get the best view walking around the Mont, not walking across. Rick recommends 5 sleeping places in France 2008.
Few people walk across the flats from the mainland anymore. And with the causeway, why do it?
Karen,
I am planning a trip for 2009 to France. The hotels that I am considering are the St. Pierre and Le Mere Poulard. You can check them out on tripadvisor.com.
