Is there construction going on at MSM? I heard they were going to tear out the causeway and build a bridge instead, to allow the water to surround the island again. I plan to go next April, but wonder if construction makes it unadvisable.

I would ck with tourist info. I cannot imagine all visits would stop. It is the draw for the area and a big part of economy. I would go anyway even if you have to see from a distance. It is magical I was there in 2006. I could stare at it for hours, just beautiful!

I was there in September and there was no construction going on. I have also heard that they were talking about building a bridge. Don't let it stop you though. It is worth seeing!

We were there in October. There's only talk about the new bridge. If they do make a new causeway I'm confident tourism will continue; plan to go as it's an A-plus site.

Construction IS going on, has been going for a couple of years and will continue till 2012. There is no way Mt St Michel could afford to miss out on tourists for such a long time. The bridge construction is done in a way that it's not interfering with the visitors' experience. So don't worry :-)
