Have you done it and is it worthwhile? Details? Thanks, Tom
I did this in the fall of 2009. I was travelling solo, so this was the easiest and most economical way to combine MSM with a visit to Normandy. We left in the morning, got about 3 hours on Mont St Michel (which was plenty in my opinion) and got back by about 3pm. I had enough time to also visit the tapestry in Bayeux that afternoon. The only caveat that I have is that just because you get a confirmation from Churchill, that doesn't mean the shuttle is guaranteed to run. I booked a reservation on the shuttle for a Monday. When I arrived on Sunday afternoon, they told me that a couple who was supposed to take the Monday shuttle had cancelled and that they could not run it for just one person. I was staying at the hotel, but was not particularly happy to find this out the day before as it left me few options for the visit. Fortunately, when I returned to the hotel after dinner, the couple who had initially cancelled has changed their mind so they ended up running the shuttle after all for the three of us.
No, yes, Laura pretty much has it. We didn't do it because we had our own personal car and did it on our own and had other places to go. The vans are simple grey coloured minivans which go from the carpark right behind the Churchill. Its a very nice hotel, by the way. When we were at brekkie having our one piece of very tasty bread and jam I heard a couple talking who were saying that they hadn't been able to go the day before because it was cancelled but they were definitely going that day. They didn't mind too much because they were flexible and were there several days. The man who served breakfast there, darned if I can remember his name, was really friendly and helpful. My wife thinks he might have been one of the owners. BTW, one piece sounds small. My wife reminds me that we were well full after brekkie.
