We will be visiting Bayveux in mid September. Want to take a day trip to Mont St. Michel. Looking for a good private guide for 2 people to take us there. How much time should we plan to spend there? What would you expect the weather to be like at this time? would it be better to rent a car and go alone?

We stayed at Mont St. Michel and day tripped to Bayeaux and thru Normandy. Mont St. Michel is a lot more interesting in the early morning and late afternoon after all the crowds are gone. We rented a car and the hotel had an elevated parking lot access. Touring the abby takes a few hours. To see the rest of the island takes another 2-3.
