Any suggestions? We will arrive in st Mont Michel in the early evening. We can't find a hotel room for that evening except for 400to 500 a night on the island. We don't want to pay that. I really don't want to go over $250 a night. We also need a triple room. I tried hotel st Pierre, croix Blanche, hotel guesclin, Le Mouton Blanc and la Vieille Auberge. What town near Mont st. Michel do you recommend to stay in or is there some other hotels that I have missed

there are farmers near by you can rent rooms from. the road leads to MsM elbows right from the entrance to MSM, so if you follow the right turn just a few minutes you'll see farm houses on your right and you'll probably see room for rent signs. I stayed there once and liked it - big clean rooms with breakfast, not expensive. the farmers were very nice and i have a small view of MSM from the room.

Try the town of Pontorson. Booking.com lists 6 hotels. It's very close to the Mont, and there are buses.

Try LaJacotiere, recommended by RS. We stayed there in 2010 and loved it. About 10 min to MSM. Their email address is [email protected] if you're interested in contacting them. You can check them out at Tripadvisor.com. This is a converted farmhouse run by a wonderful family. The rooms and attached bathrooms are modern and very clean. Great home made breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel!

I second Carol's suggestion for La Jacotiere. Mont Sant Michel is literally right out the back door. We stayed in a roomy triple there last year. Great breakfast, good size room, friendly host, wonderful location, reasonably priced.
