OOPS! In my haste to thank everyone, I posted without being clear about Mont St. Michel. I assume we'd go there from Paris and then back track to Paris to begin the rest of the France trip. Again, train or car?????

Hi Karen,
We did Mont St Michel as a day trip from Paris but we joined a bus tour of "Cityrama Tours" since we were on limited time and did not want to rent a car. It still fulfilled our itinerary to see it while there since it was a full lonnnng day trip. Cityrama Tours is behind the Joan of Arc statue on Rue De Rivoli, kind of across the Louvre, in the same area as the Hotel Regina. The price included a brunch.

A guided tour out of Paris is def your best option.
We had a car but we took 2 full days

a car is good to have so you have many choice to stop by any destination along the way, and also gives you options to stay in b&b instead of hotel by the Abby.
