1) Did anybody had any problems recently with withdrowing money in Paris, Marseille and Nice using American debit card (since franc using pin-and-chip cards)? We will be there in few days and are worried about that. 2) Is it too early to swim at Cote d'Azur during at the end of May?

1. People on this board haven't reported any problems withdrawing money at French ATMs. Be sure you notify your bank and your credit card providers when you will be in Europe so your cards aren't frozen for suspected fraudulent use. 2. Six years ago I joined lots of other people who went swimming at Antibes the last week in May. The water was cool, but not bad at all.

Make sure that your PIN only contains 4 numbers; other wise it won't work!

My PIN will be fine. But my husband's won't. How can he change it? The bank was no help ... which was weird.

we are currently in France and experiencing no problem withdrawing money from bank ATMs and at restaurants and shops. No success however, with using US bankcards in the highway toll booths and 24 hr gas stations. Seems you definitely need the chip for those.
