Money for a trip to Germany

I will be graduating from high school in june and plan to visit some friends from an exchange trip in Germany. There will be a few people going and we will be staying in our friends houses but we were wondering what amount of money should we bring with us. We will be staying 1.5 months

Alex,

A few points to mention....

I'd suggest taking some "travel funds" with you on the trip to Germany, perhaps €50-100 or so. That will allow you to buy meals, pay for taxi fare or whatever until you get "settled". I find that much easier than looking for ATM's at the airport when I'm tired and jet lagged.

NOTE that for ATM use in Europe, your funds must be in a chequing account with a four number PIN. ATM's in Germany may also be called Geldautomat.

For a trip of 1.5 months, you might be able to get by with about €50 per day. Although you'll be staying with friends, it wouldn't be unusual to offer to help with the food bill. You'll also need money for day tours, local transportation, sightseeing admissions, etc.

Cheers!
