Has anyone gone to this exhibition? If so, I'd love to hear reviews and an opinion of it is worth seeing if we also plan to visit Orsay and l'Orangerie. Thanks!
We were at the Orsay in August and even though paintings are on loan, it was still very worthwhile and wonderful!
The Monet paintings on exhibition at the Grand Palais are from the Musee d'Orsay and are on loan. The d'Orsay renovation is supposed to be completed by March of next year.
I have not seen it yet, but plan to in December when I am in Paris. I try to see every Monet exhibit I can, as I am a real fan of his work. d'Orsay and Orangerie are two of my favorite places in Paris and I also love the Monet exhibit at Mormotten in the suburbs. I wouldn't miss this exhibit for anything.
I haven't seen the exhibit, but the reviewer for the New York Times did. The review was very positive. You can read it on line. Personally, I wouldn't miss it, but I'm a museum rat.
I saw it yesterday and it was AMAZING. I have seen the Monet exhibit at the Legion of Honor in SF several years ago, and I have been to the Impressionist exhibit at the De Young (the Musee d'Orsay collection) and this was the most impressive exhibit I have seen. If you can, do it! It covers more than I have ever seen in one exhibit.
We booked in advance for 10:00 am opening, though arrived by 9:30...We weren't alone, but got to appreciate without feeling shoulder to shoulder. Some reviews suggest going in the early evening; anyhow it's a wonderful expo and even if you think you've seen ALL the Monets...you probably haven't... and many are bigger and brighter than on a postcard
