Do you know if there is an upper age limit to stay at the MIJE hostels in Paris. I am 61 and would like to stay there.

MIJE was set up for young kids and students; hence the name. Having said that, I'd bet that you won't be the youngest one there. My experience has been, when I wind up in a hostel where most of the folks are only slightly older than my grandchildren, that they pick your brain for things to do during the day and often want to tag along with you since your emphasis on things to do is often better than what they had in mind. One caution, however: don't try to keep up with the litter buggers at night.

When my wife and I stayed at one of the MIJE hostels in 2005 we were both 61. We were not the only "older" guests.

We stayed at Fourcy and it was excellent. Very clean and a great location less than two blocks from the Saint-Paul metro station. A free simple continental breakfast is included at all three hostels. There is a restaurant at Fourcy that serves lunch and dinner for a set price, but we ate elsewhere.

I am in my 60's and never had a problem staying in any hostel, even the ones that advertised as a Youth Hostel.

Good luck in trying to actually get in...I wanted to stay there last March and tried to get a reservation as early as I was allowed to. They were already full. I'm guessing because many school groups stay there. Does sound like a great place to stay, though.
