Metro/RER tickets - Paris

We are going to be staying near the Rome Metro Station in the 8e in Paris. To get to Versailles, I know we need the RER C train, but I'm confused by zones. If we get a regular metro ticket, can we use that to get to maybe the Invalides Meto Station and then buy a ticket to Versailles there? Also, I have the same question on getting to Paris Disney. I know that both of these places require RER tickets, but do you get them before you start the journey at your beginning/home metro station or do you just use a regular metro ticket to get to the bigger stations where you pick up the RER's and then get the RER tickets there?

Save your regular tickets for rides within central Paris.

The fare from anywhere in central Paris to Versailles-Rive Gauche is 3.05 EUR each way. The fare to Marne-la-Vallee--Chessy (the Disneyland station) is 6.70 EUR each way.

If you will take at least one separate metro or bus ride either before or after you go to Disneyland, then buy a one day, zone 1-5 Mobilis pass for that day and don't use any of your regular tickets. The pass costs 13.65 EUR and will cover any rides you take all day long.

Thanks! I don't think I've seen anything on Mobilis passes - is that what the day passes are called?

Yes, the Mobilis pass is a one day pass.

I assume that when Steve says "you'll buy a ticket for the trips out of town on the RER that's also inclusive of your Metro fare" he is referring to single tickets for which I gave the fares in my previous post.

His saying "Save your Metro day pass for other days" is confusing to me. Perhaps he means save your tickets from a ten-ticket carnet for other days.
