what is the most direct route from vienna westbahnhof to sudbahnhof?

The front of the Südbahnhof is served by tram-lines O and 18. The side entrance on Schweizergartenstraße is served by tram-line D and the bus line 13A. The nearest access to the U-Bahn network is a few hundred metres to the east, at Südtiroler Platz.
The trams are most direct, although transit time can be quicker using tram and U-bahn. Example Tram line 18 is 17 minutes.
