Meals Christmas Day in Seville

Hi, Our family of four (two parents and 18-yr and 21-yr old daughters) will being staying in Seville over the Christmas holidays this year. I need some advice regarding a hotel to book and places where we will be able to eat. Rick's Spain guidebook lists very few moderately priced places to stay in Seville that have a breakfast option (unlike for Granada.) I am fine with staying at a hotel/pension that does not offer breakfast - as long as we will be able to find 3 meals on Christmas day. We are happy to eat simply (sandwich, pizza etc.)that day - we just don't want to be hungry (nor do I want to go without caffeine!) We will not have a car. Any suggestions re where to stay and eat?
Thanks!

How many nights will you stay in seville? It may be more economical to rent an apt which will have a kitchen. Apts have become our preferred place to stay when in a place for more than two nights.

I don't know about Christmas. We were in Seville over New Years and absolutely nothing beyond a couple of hotel restaurants were open from about 7pm NY eve through New Years Day. No NYE celebrations like you have in the US. I am guessing the same pattern would be found on Christmas day. We had a walking tour New Years eve afternoon and our tour guide cautioned us that little food service would be available and encourage us to buy food for the day. We picked up bread, cheese, meats, wine, and water at the local grocery store and were pleased that we did so. The bars and restaurant began shutting down around 7 pm NY eve. We did a lot of walking around New Years day and noticed that a couple of restaurants associated with larger hotels were open and packed. We stayed at the Hotel Amadeus. Great breakfast and roof top deck for our New Year's Day meals. The weather was pleasant so we could spread out our picnic lunch on the roof top deck.

Katherine, I'd probably look at one of the larger hotels, as they'll be more likely to offer meals over Christmas, especially to feed their guests. The hotel mentioned by Frank would be a good place to start. It might be worthwhile to send them an E-mail and enquire about meal service on Christmas day. Happy travels!

They served breakfast each day but no regular restaurant set up so they cannot serve other meals. There was a large hotel with a restaurant just off the plaza by the cathedral. Also, Katherine, putting a number with moderately price might be helpful in making recommendations. Moderate doesn't have much meaning by itself.

Thank you for the suggestion about the apartment. At this time we haven't ruled out the idea. We are staying 4 nights but I'd like to more fully explore the hotel idea before ruling it out. Do you know of a reliable apartment service in Seville? As to our price range; I'd prefer to keep it to 75 euro per double room (we need 2 double rooms or maybe a quad room.)We've traveled before in Italy and have found that the $$ marked hotels/pensions in Rick's book usually meet our needs. We are fine with buying some food the day before and having a picnic the next day; but I really don't want to do buy meat and cheese without access to a refrigerator. Did Hotel Amadeus have a fridge that guests could use? Thank you,

I think a hotel for 75 eu may be difficult to find in a city like Seville. Check booking.com For apartment rentals, I've used VRBO, but make sure you stay inside of Seville, because if you're on the outskirts, cab fares will eat up any savings on the less expensive hotel - or apartment. RS has some less expensive hotels in his book on Spain. His hotels are always centrally located -- and not using a cab will more than make up a 25 or so eu price difference.

I am a fan of renting apartments now that I did so for the first time for my Spain trip Dec-Jan. Full kitchen, multiple floors, rooms to roam around, balconies with views, laundry facilities. It made us look forward to coming home with a nice wine, cheese, olives, and those yummy potato chips that I could not seem to get enough of.

We used Veo apartments twice on our trip for our stay in Sevilla and Granada. We had to let them know when we would be there and then call to let them know we arrived. They met us in the nearby square and then escorted us to our awesome home. This place was great and we paid maybe 75 euros per night. I would use them again.

This was our apartment: it was 1 bedroom but they have plenty of 2+ bedrooms too.

There was a store nearby so we could stock up on snacks, breakfast, lunch stuff. Also there was bakery a few doors down.

We arrived the day after christmas so I can't tell you what is around that would be open for christmas. I am sure something has to be open.
