My husband and I will be in Baveria, Salzburg and Lucerne the last two weeks of May this year. What kind of weather can we expect?
Go to a RS tour that covers these places and look down on the right hand side of the screen to "Tour Weather" - click on that to get monthly averages. Someone else on this web site has posted a web site that gives local weather in Europe. Perhaps they will see your post. Happy Travels.
The answer is....you just never know. Yes you can look at the averages and that might be some help, but from my limited experence, just be prepared. We traveled in April, May and June 2006 for 7 weeks in France, Beligum, Germany and Austria and in that time we had about 5 days of rain, all in Austria. The rest of the time weather was sunny and pleasant. Even had a couple of hot days. We returned last year at the same time of the year for 6 weeks and it rained all but eight days. We even had a little snow in Austria. You can read my trip report for the last trip here: http://tinyurl.com/7j8nzzr
Hi Sheri. Weatherbase.com will give you good weather averages by city and month. For instance, Salzburg late May avg high 68F, avg low 50F, avg 8 days of rain in month of May, etc. Enjoy your trip!
I've been uncomfortably warm in May, I've likewise seen snow storms in the Alps as late as June, and experienced wide fluctuations in between. Ask the question again one week before you travel.
i have always enjoyed Europe in May. its green and usually warming up. I have learned always to be prepared for rain- whatever time of year.
