I understand May Day is a big holiday in France and that many sights may be closed. I am planning to go see the cathedral in Chartres that day. I'm not finding anything that says it will be closed. Anybody have any insight on closures for the holiday?
Think "Labor Day". All sights are wide open. Churches seldom close anyway, since lots of people use them for praying and such.
Edit: Dumb me. Norma's correct.
I believe most, if not all, museums are closed on May 1 but places of worship will certainly be open, as they should be.
Mostly hoping to catch Malcolm Miller's highly recommended guided tour of the cathedral in Chartres.
