Marseille to Casis, best way?

We will be on a cruise stopping in Marseille for a day in mid September and would like to go to Cassis for the day. It looks like a bus will take you into town near the beach and the train, which takes half the time the bus does, stops two miles from town requiring a cab ride or a long hike. Does anyone have any suggestions on which method of transportation to use to get to Cassis? There seem to be almost equally balanced pros and cons to the bus vs. the train.

You should take the train there and the bus back, or visa-versa. The train station is up the hill, but it is in the middle of the wine growing area. The walk is downhill. If a taxis is waiting, and you decide to take it, you could ask for a little drive through the vineyards. Going back the bus goes over an area called le col de la gineste. This is the road that goes close to and above the calanques with beautiful views. If the bus schedule doesn't work for you, you could take a taxi back but be sure it takes you over Le Col de la Gineste for the views and not the freeway. If you take the bus, sit on the right going and the left coming back for the best views out to the sea.
