I just left there on Sunday. The area is beautiful. The facility is great except for the washing machine and dryer. They took half a day, not what the directions said. Expensive. The town is very small. Be sure and branch out. We were offered an upgrade with a kitchen. We took it for 100 euros and really liked it. The room was great, number 303. The staff was helpful and my husband enjoyed the sauna and swimming pool.
Do not miss going to Zell am See. It is a short drive. Go up to the top of the Smitten cable car. It was the best day of the month for me. I have pictures! It was an Austrian holiday and there were several hundred para-sailers taking off. It was a beautiful sight. It took hours for them all to take off. There are beautiful hiking trails and small places to eat. Go on a clear day. More if interested.

Chester,
My family and I stayed at the sporthotel in Maria Alm in 2004. We loved our stay. The town is small and quaint. Lots of good food and interesting sights in the area. I also recommend the hiking. They have huts that you hike to. They serve food and drinks and have a deer farm. The scenery is beautiful. Salzburg and Berchesgarden are close. Munich is not too far and Oktoberfest is the third week of September through the first weekend of October. My husband and I will be in Munich the first weekend for Oktoberfest. Enjoy your trip.

Chet, I'm sure that there is a bus that goes to Zell am See. The bus comes about a block from the hotel. There is a short cut to town right behind the hotel next door. It come out at the grocery store. If you go straight through the parking lot there is a cute little restaurant that we ate in several times. We had lunch and dinner there. We ate a couple of times at the hotel dining room and took Pizza to the room a couple of times. There is another small town just past Zell am See that has lifts up to another mountain. I'll have to do that when we go back.
