Marburg?

Anyone recommend a nice central hotel/gasthaus with a cosy bar and restaurant in Marburg? Going in May.

One of my friends is a professor there and absolutely loves it. I will ask her if there are some good places to recommend.

Linda,

Marburg an der Lahn is a lovely town to visit, definitely worth your time, especially the Altstadt.
A hotel that is central only a few minutes walk down from the train station is Waldecker Hof on Bahnhofstrasse 23 on your left as you exit the station. Breakfast is included for a single room at 70 Euro.

I stayed at this next place continuing down Bahnhofstrasse in 2007...Europaischer Hof on Elisabathskirche 12, which was a bit more expensive for single at 78 Euro. This hotel is closer to the Elisabethskirche, across the street from it. There
is a restaurant located right next to Europasischer Hof, Italian but I didn't eat there, thought it was a bit pricey.

Both these hotels are in the 3 star category, I would have preferred staying at Waldecker Hof instead. It looked newer and more cheerful; I just didn't think the room was worth the amount I paid. You'll probably have a better experience. The tel. # for Waldecker Hof is: 06421/60090. I don't have the tel. no. for the other hotel. Be sure to see the Elisabethskirche and the university...Marburg is also well known as an university town.

Does anyone know the website for the Mueller hotel? I cannot find anything in English or any way to reserve a room.

Google Haus Muller Marburg. You'll find info there. Also see Pension Muller Marburg on Tripadvisor on same page.

The website that I found on google is no longer working, and when I sent them an email, it was returned. I am guessing they are no longer open?

Haus Mueller does not seem to have a website of its' own, and there have been no reviews since July, 2010 on Trip Advisor. My suggestion is to look for another place.
