Marbella hotel

In October, 2008, we will fly into Malaga and the next day join friends at their timeshare in Marbella. We need a hotel for that first, jetlagged night. Does anyone have a hotel they would recommend? I realize that Marbella is not high on RS' list of places to visit in Spain, but staying at the timeshare is an opportunity of a lifetime for us. We plan to base there and visit Ronda, Greneda, Nerja, etc. We had briefly thought of staying in Nerja that first night, but it seems a bit cumbersome to get to Nerja and then back to Marbella the next day, unless we rent a car. I think renting a car that first night, after travling for way too many hours, might be asking for trouble. We do intend to rent a car on the 2nd day. And yes, I've looked into carjet, which does have great rental prices. Thanks for your insight.

Hi Deb- we are flying into Malaga in March, and I was searching for the same thing...but since we are staying in Nerja, we decided to go ahead and rent a car, (carjet, as you found is lots cheaper than Auto Europe or whatever Rick suggests). Anyway, as I researched staying in or near Malaga, I found a few B&B's that looked great (try www.findbnb.com/1720) with breakfast included. I think that closer to Marbella will be more expensive. We also stayed in a time share a few years ago, near Marbella, and it is very touristy, lots of condos, but as you say, the price of the time share makes it all worth it. You will undoubtedly do a lot of exploring..we loved the ritzy Puerto Banus, with its luxury yachts, fancy cars, and small dogs on leashes! E-mail me if I can be of any other help. Betsy- Tacoma
