marais--good area for hotel?

I am about to reserve Pointe Rivoli Hotel and it is in the marais area. Overall it looks like that is a good area, but wanted to know others' experience or thoughts.

I know nothing about the hotel, but the area is excellent. You'll like it, although it is a bit to the east of most of the stuff you'll want to see.

I stayed in the Marais area 4 or 5 years ago and really enjoyed it. I didn't think it was too far and I enjoyed the restaurants and cafes that are in the immediate area. I too, can't comment on the hotel.

I find the Marais to be quite walkable--to the river and its islands, to the Latin Quarter and Jewish Quarter, Notre Dame, etc. And there are numerous hotels with reasonable rates. The Castex Hotel, where I have stayed, is in that area.

I have stayed in the Marais and loved it. I rented an apartment on the Rue Rosiers across the street from the great falafel place. It had a small kitchen so I could make coffee in the morning if I wanted it. It was an old building and people lived there so it was a bit noisy but I really liked staying there.

Love the Marais area! The next time I go to Paris, I'd stay there again.

The Marais area is my favorite area in Paris to stay. The restaurants, cafes and bars are great and it is within walking distance to many sites.
