My party of 5 is going to Mallorca, Spain first week of Feb 2012. We are staying at the Marriott's Son Antem for 7 days. (1) Do we need a car to tour the island or is public transportation more cost saving?(2) What are the 'must see' attractions on the island? (3) Is it wise to take day trips to one of the coastal cities on the mainland? (4) where are best places to eat? Thanks for any insight you can share.

Beaches and boating are the main attractions in Mallorca. The average highs and lows in February are 59 and 41. Even the golfing at Son Antem may not be ideal. Palma is worth a few hours after taking the train to Soller. Stay in Barcelona instead and take a day trip to Palma. Airfare is only $65 on Expedia.
