Is this island worth going to on a 10 day trip of Spain? Currently we are scheduled to travel from Madrid to Andalucia. Further, do you have any hotel recommendations for Mallorca and Seville. Thanks
What time of the year are you going? That would make a lot of difference, especially in Mallorca.
We are traveling August 27 - September 05 2010
We just returned from a four-night stay in Palma and thought it was totally worth it (flew in from Barcelona). Try Vueling for airfare -- we caught a sale and got tickets for 19 euro each (note: they have tight dimensions and charge 10 euro per checked bag and charge for lots of little things as well, but I think the total was still around 30/40 euro, so not too bad at all).
What's your budget, hotel-wise?
thanks for the information. So far we've looked at Se Permisso for our stay.
I would not go to Mallorca in late summer, especially if you have only 10 days. I'd spend my time in Madrid and Sevilla and perhaps other cities or towns in Andalucia. Mallorca is more of a vacation destination, especially for sun and heat deprived Northern Europeans.
We don't want to squeeze any place in or feel rushed but also do not want to lose the opportunity to see Mallorca because we most likely won't return to spain for several years. Can we still get the "beach" atmosphere/experience without Mallorca?
Sure...since you're in Andalucia already, just head for any of the beaches ranging from Estepona to Nerja along the south coast. By that time of year, the annual Spanish vacation rush should be easing. Otherwise, you'll waste much of a day getting to Mallorca, and another day getting back to the mainland.
