Mallorca or other quaint town/isle info?

I cannot seem to find any info on Mallorca. We would like to spend a 5 days in a quaint Spanish town preferably ocean-side with tons of Spanish culture (not too touristy) and relatively safe for seniors. Any suggestions???

What you like and dislike is a very personal thing. In my opinion it sounds like Calla Major is the place for you. It has a couple of small beaches, it never gets too rowdy except in late July and August when it is just too busy with tourists ( as is everywhere on Mallorca ).

I like it best in mid October.

Hotel Nixe isn't cheap but it's on the beach and is worth it for a short stay.

Shelley,
I cannot offer any good suggestions, but we did travel to Mallorca a couple of years ago to visit friends who moved there. It is definitely NOT "quaint" or "not too touristy". It is a beautiful place and definitely ocean-side, but we were totally amazed by the size and hustle-bustle. Surely you can find somewhere better suited to your needs.
Good Luck,
Lisa

Although Mallorca is THE #1 vaccation destination of Europeans there still are a couple of small not-so-touristy villages on the island. But most of them are in the mountains and not ocean-side. The island of Menorca is much more quaint. Also keep in mind that to most people Spanish culture means Andalusian culture. The language on the Balear islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza,...) is Catalan and not Castillano (which is what's known as Espanol) and the culture on these islands is also different from e.g. Andalusias...

Thanks for the help, everyone! I will do some more research. I am looking at Sevilla now or Valencia. Maybe someplace called Nerja?? Thanks again!

Shelley,

Nerja is a wonderful small town on the Costa del Sol...about 1 1/2 hour away from Grenada...you could have the best of both worlds by visiting each to see great Spanish and Moorish history in Grenada then the best of laid back small town sea side experience. Unlike its neighbors...Nerja has prohibited the explosion of seaside highrises that proliferate everything from Malaga west to Gibralter. A lot depends on the time of year you are visiting...anytime during the summer will be intense with visitors...but if you go after the middle of September...you will have great weather and fewer tourists to deal with. I would suggest 3 nights in Grenada and two in Nerja, but you could just as easily reverse it. If you are flying out from there, you are only a short distance from the Mallaga airport...or from Grenada, you can also catch a plane to one of the Euro hub airports.
