Does anyone know if Malcom Miller conducts his Chartres cathedral tours in August? Given that it's still a popular month for French vacations, I'm just wondering. Thanks.
I had a private tour of Chartres Cathedral with Malcolm Miller in late December 2007. He told us he was struggling with some health problems and was contemplating retiring soon. It was quite clear that he was frail. That was over 5 years ago and if he recovered well enough to continue giving tours up till now, it's good news. His contact information is on the following page. When I emailed him back in 2007 he replied within an hour. Good luck! He is a remarkable individual. http://www.diocese-chartres.com/cathedrale/visites/guieng.htm
He was still doing them 2 yrs ago.
Looks like he is still doing them! http://www.cathedrale-chartres.org/fr/malcolm-miller,article-254.html (includes his email so you can contact him) That would be GREAT news if true. I took his tour back in... holy Moses, dinosaurs were still roaming the earth! - and it was marvelous. I still remember details that he told me so long ago! Please report back and let us know if he's still working his magic. :-)
I read recently that Rick is going to tape a TV show with Malcolm Miller. I'll bet it will be shown during PBS pledge drives.
He is indeed still doing it. If you go, make sure you do his earlier showing at noon because he doesn't always do the 2:45 showing,
We were just at Chartres in early May and we went to his noon tour. He does appear elderly, but still had lots of energy. However, at his age, who knows how much longer he will be giving his tours. Go now, since his fund of knowledge about Chartres is enormous. Finally, they use microphones and hearing devices now, so you can hear him clearly without him having to raise his voice.
