I'm helping a friend book a cruise and the cruise ends in Malaga. I'm not familiar with this city, so I was hoping someone could recommend a reasonable hotel in a good location. What is the best area to stay in? And, before you bring it up, yes I know I could go buy Rick's book, but I would rather not just to get info on one hotel. Thanks! :-)
The port is metres from the city centre and some of the 'sites'.
Hotel Molina Lario is in this area and walkable from the port (for me). If it is not 'reasonable', you should clarify.
Use your public library. Copy what you need and take it back.
April... I assume you were looking for a personal recommendation which is what I have... I stayed at the Don Carlos in Malaga, and it was a great location...just walked out the door and we were right near everything. It was a medium priced hotel and we had a nice breakfast there... I would stay there again.
Malaga is the victim of urban sprawl. Look for somewhere in the "old city" to stay.
We just got back in June, and spent one night in Malaga prior to our flight home. We went to Trip Advisor, and read the reviews of the resonably priced hotels, and picked the Salles Hotel Malaga Centro. We loved it. It had huge bright new rooms, and, if you stayed on the back side, was very quiet. (And had a great view.) A small pool and deck, and bar was on the roof. It was 1/2 block from old town (where we had our pick of lots of fun places to eat.), and about 1 mile and quarter from the port. Our double Superior room was only $79 EU/nite with taxes.
Thanks for all the great information. Really appreciate it.
