We will be in Europe for 2 weeks this spring. 1 week will be in Paris/London for my husband's company, the other week we would like to visit friends that we have in and across Europe... my husbands sister lives in Lyon, but we also want to visit Salzburg, Austria and Berlin, Germany as well. Is 3 days in each of these places realistic and what is the best way to travel to maximize our time in each place? I have looked into air and rail fares/travel time and they seem pretty comparable, although the rail does allow us to travel the two long stretches (Paris - Munich and Munich -Berlin) at night, so I kind of like that aspect. What about renting a car? It would be cheaper, but the drive time does cut back on our time in each place... we aren't opposed to a mixture of air/rail/car travel, we just want to keep it cheap, but maximize our time.
