Does anyone have info/resources on sailing to Majorca and other islands off coast of Spain?? I can't find anything in Rick's book or on the website
Are you looking to rent a sailboat (crewed or uncrewed ?) or just looking for a way to get there without flying?
Looking for a sailboat that is crewed ~ preferably with a group so not so expensive?
I was afraid of that. Prepare to dump your pocketbook. I have a buddy that uses Charter World, but even bareboat, the stuff she comes up with is too expensive for me. She's seemed happy enough however. You might see if The Moorings has something in the western Med, I've only seen them around Greece and Turkey.
So no easy day trips?
If you want to travel from Spain to the Balearics without flying, you can get a ferry from Barcelona operated by Trasmediterranea (http://www.trasmediterranea.es, then pick the "Ingles" language link at top right corner). It's too far for a day trip, though, the trip is either overnight or a whole afternoon and evening one-way.
I was thinking the interest was toward week- or two- week charters. If you walk into just about any marina in the world, you'll find a kiosk, shack, or sandwich board promoting harbour tours, day trips, or fishing excursions. Many/most don't really advertise. You're not going to get from the mainland to the islands (let alone there and back) in a day. Denia to Ibiza is minimally a ten-hour project for a decent sailboat. Barcelona or Valencia to Palma is more than twice that.
Sailing from where and for how long? You can fly round trip between Barcelona and Palma for $70 on Vueling. Fly there, rent a boat and spend your time sailing around the island and maybe to Majorca. No idea on the rental cost, though.
