Can anyone suggest a solution to a predicament I am ? I have some gifts to send to France but the cost of shipping is extremely high, whether it be the USPS,Fedex,UPS etc...so I thought maybe I could just bring an extra suitcase to check through when I fly over there and as I don't want to lug it around for the first few weeks thought about mailing it through la Poste @ Cdg but do not know if they handle large packages there...if anyone can give me some info on this I would greatly appreciate it...I have found a Fedex depot only 6km's from the airport so that could bean option also, but I am looking for the least expensive way to get this to a French address, outside of Paris and not on my itinerary until the 3rd week that I am there...
How big is the box and how much does it weigh? Also when do you need it there by (i.e., how many weeks from now)?
Try looking into book rate postage from USPS, it is generally significantly cheaper then standard postage. However, it is slow so you have to have enough time to get it there. There is a stipulation that it contain only media and no advertising, but I am not sure how much they stick to that. Being that my mom worked at the Post Office she might have been able to bend the rules for me...
Book Rate - Rates
Hi Jon,
thanks for the reply...I need the stuff to get there within a few weeks and have had prior experience shipping USPS to France and even though they say it will arrive in lets say 6-10 days,I've had it take 4 weeks ! I cannot rely on them this time...but thanks for the advice,
Karen
