I wouldn't make Cordoba a day trip from Seville. I would do my Seville sightseeing while I am there, then do Cordoba afterward, before returning to Madrid.

You wouldn't need to cut either, just rearrange.

So you have 2 nights Toledo, 3 nights Sevilla, and 2 in Madrid? I think Cordoba is fine as a daytrip from Sevilla. It does mean backtracking, but on the other hand you do not have to worry about luggage storage if you stop on the way. Or you could spend a night in Cordoba on the way back go Madrid. We did that and we're glad we did. There is much more go see there than the Mezquita.

I think Nancy's point may have been that for your itinerary it is more efficient to visit Cordoba for a day enroute between Seville and Madrid. For instance, get on the AVE in Seville in the morning, get of in Cordoba, continue to Madrid in the afternoon or evening. This actually saves you time you'd otherwise spend going back and forth. You do have to leave your bags off, but otherwise this is a day trip to Cordoba that ends in Madrid.

Thanks, Adam, that was exactly what I meant.

Thanks I was a little confused. I get it now and will look at hotels. I do appreciate the advice. It won't be my last trip so I can't really go wrong.

Some good advise. I really liked Cordoba. I think 1 night in Toledo is enough though.

marilyn. i just got back from two weeks in spain. landed at 12:05 at sea tac today. i tend to agree with john. i think toledo is destroyed during the day by tour buses and there isn't enough night to make it better. one and done for me. i probably am strange but i enjoyed cordoba more than seville. seville is also crushed during the day and has enough english breakfast menus that you want to be french. i could do one night toledo, then one night cordoba and one in seville. my question is why no granada or barcelona. i would take barcelona over madrid all day. except the prado is a top 4 museum in the world i think. but the alhambra is so much more than the mezquita and alkazar combined. sorry long and stupid probably. have fun be safe. jeff

Four hours in Cordoba is good to see the Mesquita, definitely a top sight, and explore the surrounding area. Although we stayed a night, we didn't go into the Alcazar, mostly based on Rick's review. If you want to see other sights, you may want to plan a night. Toledo was our favorite "twisty" road stop in Spain. We stayed a couple of days. If the sights aren't particularly appealing to you, 24 hours is plenty. We love Seville, but we were there during April Fair. In November, focus on the area around the Cathedral and Alcazar (both top sights). Wander the streets around the area. The university is nice, though we didn't tour the rooms Rick talks about. The price was outrageous, way higher than Rick's book said. The Plaza Espana is an expo sight, so not really old or historical - good for a stroll in nice weather. We passed the Golden Tower, on the river, many times but never went inside. Madrid is new by Spanish standards and not my favorite. It's not that Madrid is horrible as that there are hundreds of superior sights elsewhere in Spain. The Prado is the only truly must see sight. The Cathedral is worth missing (Seville's is the one to see on your itinerary) and the Palace is only okay. We liked the Eqyptian Temple, make sure you see it during it's limited open hours. Plaza Mayor is fine in the day, but somewhat overrun with homeless at night - I wouldn't stay there. The cave restaurants around the corner sound better than they are. Plaza del Sol is simply a cener for transportation, shopping, and thieves, not a destination.
