Madrid to Paris via Normandy

My husband and I will be in Spain and France for 2 weeks in May. Most of our itinerary is settled, but we are unsure how to plan the part from Madrid to Paris via Normandy. We will leave Madrid by train early Sat. morning, May 8, and want to arrive in Paris on Tues. by noon, giving us 3 full days and 3 nights. We would be open to picking up a car at some point and then dropping it before taking the train into Paris.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to spend our time during this portion of our trip. The Normandy area is a priority, but we are uncertain if Madrid to Normandy is too much train travel for one day. And once in Normandy, how should we spend our time and where should we stay? And if we decide to do some driving, where would be the best place to pick up a car and drop it off? We had a great time driving in Germany last year; is driving in France comparable? Thanks.

Steve, that is SO helpful. Thanks. Can you tell me how we go about booking flights with EasyJet or Ryanair?

Here's a handy idea when thinking about traveling by car: Use Google Maps to plan a trip for you. Gives you good idea of time and miles required. For instance, Madrid to Bayeux, Google says takes approximately 12 hrs 53 minutes and is 791 miles. HOpe that gives you some food for thought.
