I just realized that we will be in Madrid during their big San Isidro festival on May 15. Has anyone experienced Madrid during this festival? Is it absolutely crazy? Is there something special we could see that only happens during this time? Other than needing to book hotels well in advance and slightly higher costs, anything else I should know?

What a great time to be there! Bullfighting is the main event, but there will also be dancing in Plaza Mayor and open-air concerts in vailous parks. You should read up on San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of Madrid and also of farmers and peasants, to see what it's all about.

Are there extra bullfights during this time? I've read that bullfights typically are Sunday evenings throughout the Spring/Summer, so we've planned our schedule to be sure we're in Madrid on a Sunday. Could I see a bullfight on a Saturday during this festival?
