Hi, would appreciate any help on our laying over in Madrid for 3 nights. Where to stay, its the end of our long trip and we will need inexpensive accommadations, and what would be the highlights to see?
Any help would be great.
Before I waste a lot time and bandwidth, define inexpensive. And any guidebook will list the top three or four attractions.
A good website for Madrid and Spain in general is www.madridman.com. He has a lot of info for places to stay and things to do in Madrid.
DAY 1:
Walk around the Old Quarter.
Visit Madrid's Royal Palace.
Checkout Plaza Mayor.
DAY 2:
Prado Musuem.
Picnic in the Retiro.
DAY 3:
Reina Sofia to see Picasso's Guernica.
Shopping/People Watching in Puerta del Sol.
I'd recommend staying somewhere near Plaza Santa Ana -- a great square right in the center of the city with lots of good tapas options.
