I know this question has been asked several times, but what is your opinion. It would be a 3 night stay over the weekend. It would be several US college students. We would obviously want to see the sights during the day, but we also want to know which city has the best nightlife. Thank you.
Both have fantastic nightlife. From what I've heard Madrid may have a slight edge being more of a "world class" city but both have plenty. I'd base your decision on another aspect, because it's a draw.
Both are great and make Buckhead look like a convent's backyard ;-) Probably the only difference is that there is also nightlife by the beach in Barcelona which Madrid just cannot offer...
haha about Buckhead. Which would you say is cooler (temp wise)? Barcelona?
What time of year are you talking about?
I guess that would be helpful. Late June, early July.
My college aged nieces LOVED Barcelona.
Barcelona can get quite hot, but of course if you go hang out near the beach, you'll have cool breezes most of the time. Madrid can get quite hot and is inland...
I would say the nightlife in Madrid is good. It was certainly crazy on both a Friday and Saturday night when we were there. Literally, people were up all night going from club to club. And at 6 in the morning, Gran Via was still pretty well packed with people standing in line for pizza after a night of partying. We met a couple of young guys from Madrid while in Toronto last summer...they hated Madrid and thought it was the most boring place on Earth. They loved Barcelona, however. It was their favorite place on Earth...they're young and like to party. Based on this, I might recommend Barcelona, but sometimes the grass is always greener, you know. Personally, I loved Madrid, but I wasn't looking for fun nightlife.
