Madrid Connections - Air & Train

Two 'conection' questions:
- We're taking the train from Toledo to Cordoba; what is a reasonable amount of time we should leave for the transfer in Madrd?
- My wife and I may end up having to meet at the airport in Madrid, neither of us having been there before. Is there a easily identified and unique landmark in the airport that we could meet at? I'd be coming from the US on American Airlines and my wife from London on on as yet undetermined airline.

Thanks

For your train connection, half an hour should be plenty of time.
Barajas airport's layout can be a bit confusing. The three older terminals, T1-3, are all in a big line on one side of the airport....while the huge new Terminal 4 is on the other side.
On American, you will be arriving at T-4. If your wife is travelling Iberia, Vueling, Cityflyer Express, or BA, she'll land at T4 as well. Meet at the entrance to the Metro station in that terminal.
However, if she's flying just about any other airline, she'll likely come in to T-1 or T-2. The entrance to the Metro station is conveniently at the junction of T-1 and 2. You can take the shuttle bus from T-4 around the airport to T-2, get off, and meet her at the Metro entrance.

Thank you both very much. One item settled. Now back to that &*%# RENFE site.

Regarding the Renfe site, there is a great "tutorial" on TripAdvisor. Check it out, it saved me when I ordered my tickets recently.

One other option to consider that may or may not have an advantage...we took the bus from Toledo to Madrid. The metro to Atocha Rail Station. Then, train from Madrid to Cordoba. We left Toledo at 8 a.m. to make the train at 9:30 a.m. The bus trip from Toledo to Madrid is only about 30 minutes. The bus station in Madrid, connects to the metro.

Sharon....your bus must have been rocket-powered, since it's about 55 miles from Toledo to Madrid's Mendez Alvaro bus station ;) I think the bus trip actually takes a little over an hour. Just checked the schedules again, and I don't see any mention of buses to or from Toledo now....I wonder if they've been killed off by the AVE?

Phil...Norm's always correct about these things! The bus trip seemed quicker than I expected but was probably closer to one hour. Edit...I reviewed my notes and found that we returned from Toledo to Madrid using the Continental Auto Bus company. We arrived at the bus station at Plaza Eliptica and took the Metro from there to Atocha station where we caught our train to Cordoba.
