We're going to Madrid in the Spring and would like to stay in a quiet location-away from all the turists areas but not too far away that we couldn't make it there in 5 min. using the subs. Would prefer a neighborhood and a clean, nice hotel. Last time we were there we stayed at the Hotel Conde Duque and loved the area, but would like to try something different this time. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I was in Madrid 2 years ago and stayed at Hotel Abalu.

The location is near a metro, close to the Gran Via, yet tucked away from the tourist area.
If you pick this, ask for the room away from the street. The view isn't as nice but at least you'll get a good night's sleep.
