I know the banks are closed on Good Friday but are they also closed on April, 9th, Easter Monday? We fly in on Fri or Sat and are concerned about getting Euros.
Just because the banks are closed doesn't mean the ATM's will shut down. In your case though, I would suggest buy up to $200 worth of euros in the US as a safety net just in case some of the ATM's are out of cash over the holiday weekend.
Thanks for the advice*
Monday, April 9th - the day after Easter Sunday - will be a normal working day for everyone in Spain. As you said, Friday, April 6th - the Friday before Easter Sunday, the banks WILL be closed then. The Thursday ("Jueves Santo") and Friday ("Viernes Santo") before Easter Sunday are always holidays and banks are closed. As mentioned above, you might get a few Euros from an ATM upon arriving and then get more, if necessary, from the banks on Monday. ATMs are the way to go, however, or paying most things with your USA credit card - but alert your credit card company of your trip or they may block its usage after the first purchase.
