Wound up (long story) with an extra day in Madrid. We did the usual (palace, prado, parks, thyssen, etc) already and Segovia today and Toledo is booked for Tuesday. Would like to not fit another day trip in for tomorrow but I can't find any info on off the beaten path neighborhood walks or artisinal areas, say guitar makers, etc Idea?

Thank you for the non-answer response. Telling someone to figure it out themselves is against the concept of sharing on a travel board where those people who like to share tips and insight share, highlighted by the underlining of your response. And yes, I have walked around Madrid but guess what, in a large city, one can wonder and not find a hidden gem and be a block away. If someone has something to share, why not ask. If someone doesn't have anything to share, why bother posting as you did, with your underlining.
