Can anyone recommend a budget hotel near Madrid airport with 24 hour shuttle? I need to be at the airport around 04:00.... Also, can anyone advise if it is necessary/possible to book Prado tickets in advance?
Thanks for your help everyone!
Last April we visited the Prado twice - no tickets required in advance. Arrive there just prior to the doors opening and you will not have a problem getting in. For us, after about 3 hours we are DONE for that day. The schools start arriving before lunch and that's about time to leave. Can't help you with the shuttle or hotel, we stayed in the central area and walked over to the museum.
The Prado...should have no difficulty unless there is a new exhibit opening as in October/November with Renoir -- for it, the line was "around the block" for both weekends...On other visits, I have walked right in. Go early in the day if possible. Not sure about a hotel near the airport, however. You might possibly check the web site for the airport, get information on the Express shuttle (2 euro I think) that has its first stop within a block of so of the Prado ,and find a hotel near that location.
Thank you to both of you re Prado info. I'll keep looking for hotel info - much appreciated!
Hi Gail Three years ago we stayed at the Clement Hotel Barajas, which was only about a five minute shuttle ride to the airport. Modern hotel located in a residential area. I believe that the hotel shuttle is 24 hours as we had an early flight out as well, but I would double check first if you decide to make a reservation.
Thanks very much David - I'll give that a try. I appreciate the recommendation! Adios!
Gail
We have a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at the Madrid Airport. They do not have a shuttle but I was informed that the hotel is about 3 miles from the airport and taxis are readily available.
