In Funchal
try Savoy Resort or the Vila Ramos Hotel
or the more well known "Reid Palace"
better yet
for a stay a little way out of town up in the mountains-
try Hotel Monte Carlo w/incredible views overlooking the town and the incredibly beautiful sea
